That one was a Canada rig :frown: the import laws are a PITA but I'm sure it would be easier for military personnel to get one in ;) there are also agencies that will do it for you and handle the paperwork. I'm gonna try it one of these days and hope I don't get burned.

I'm told they should be ready next week

Glad to hear you order a new clutch Jon. maybe i can give Paul a hand when it comes in:beer:

Jon. can you get some tires sec. from the army over at Fort Polk. A friend of mind was tell me he can get a 35'' for $100. a tire. Is that true? And what kind tire are they do you know.

got the marlin 1600 lb , what ya think for the wheels? intrnal are reg rock crawler bead locks?
not real impressed with bead locks as they only are for the outer bead.
that said how ever do see a lot of complaints on the inner tire locks aka Staun realy like the concept not sure if the probs are related to design or install error have been on the fence will probably have to bite the bullet myself to make a final determination. if I find it to B a product error will have to locate the idea man ------ insert unit where the sun don`t shine & inflate said unit:D

I need to find time to tear down my stauns (still) I think I know what happened to them, but not saying till I can find out for certain. It is mostly an interco specific problem.

If I ever get some decent downtime in daylight hours I am going to try and do it my self, if I cant I will just run them as is in Tenn.

hey cool semd me the addy , larry has the buggy now on a test drive , maby u can tex him to drop it off ?? and i can get it when i come in ? idk if that will work ? are u would need it picked up sooner

Jon we wound up not going due to expected storms to blow in and tornados tore up the South so I guess it was better safe than sorry :frown:. So no clutch burning on my watch bud ;) will get it to Paul though. Thanks again for opportunity to exercise the pumpkin anyway  hope your weekend was a good one. :)

I assume that they are still leaking at the stem.

refresh me are the bead locks or the tires the ones that loose air?

The stems are loosing air, I think the O-ring is cut and lettign my front two tires go flat, the FL and RR tires the innertubes do not hold air, there are special instructions when using them with Interco tires, and some other large mud tires on making them not chafe the tubes.

Quote from Staun:

"Problem: With very large tires, typically 36 inches in diameter and greater, the beadlock tubes may fail. This involves most Interco tires, BFG MTRs and others. The failure can range from small holes to slits 180° around the tube right at the tire-beadlock Bead intersection. The problem appears to be caused by the tire.

Background: We have recently discovered all tires are not created equal as international wheel specifications assume. These specify that the space behind the bead bump be 0.750 inch/19mm. Most tire beads are 0.625 inch/15.9mm wide. However, larger tires have wider beads. Some may be as wide as 1.0 inch/25.4mm wide.

Discussion: This means that standard 0.625 inch tire beads will seat completely behind the bead bump, but for wider tire beads, a portion of the sharp inside tire bead edge will be outside the bead bump area. This causes two problems: 1) It may prevent the beadlock case from moving to seat properly and 2) the sharp edge may cause tube failure.

Solution: The solution is to smooth out the wide, sharp tire bead edge. Further, exercise all proper beadlock installation practices, and in particular, use lots of powder. If you run out of powder, you may buy any bath, baby or talc powder from your local 99 cent store."

Pretty much I am planning on pulling them down, using a sanding drum in a die grinder to smooth the edges, then cross my fingers and hope.

If I had it to do over again I probably just go with conventional outer only beadlocks since your outer is the most likely to get unseated anyway.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this coming weekend . I hope the weather guru's are as wrong about the weather next weekend as they were for this past weekend.
7 day.webp
