This is a hoax that has been circulating since 2002. Always verify the email and it's contents before opening any files, but don't worry about this thing getting to your computer because it isn't real.

As for Macs, there are viruses for them but not as many. When someone writes a virus they want to infect as many people as possible. Right now, that target group is PC users. If everyone goes out and gets Macs, you better believe that viruses will become more abundant for the Mac platform.

Recently, there has been a number of trojan-infected downloads but they are mainly aimed at the pirate/porn community. I would expect to see many more in the near future as Macs become more popular. Microsoft is way behind on keeping up with their problems. It will be interesting to see how Mac can do when they are receiving 1,000's of threats a day instead of a 100/yr. Expect to see a large in the 3rd party anti-malware industry for Apple OS X.

Since we are on the computer topic.........

I just bought 3 gigs of RAM to go with my 1 gig of RAM that I already have and I notice no difference at all. I am trying to get my pictures to load faster for editing. I have all of my pics on a external hard drive and I use some POS Canon editing software. Anyone computer savvy out there that can help with my turtle?

Unless you are running a 64-bit operating system, your computer will only recognize 3.2GB. You can check how much it sees by hitting the windows key and the pause/break buttons at the same time. You can also right-click on my computer and go to properties.

I would say that your bottle neck is in the hard drive. You are probably using a USB cable to connect it. It may also be a low-rpm drive which will slow access times.

Defragment your external hard drive often, especially if you change files often (ie save, delete, and edit). I would recommend upgrading to a E-SATA hard drive setup which can boost your interface speed to 3Gb per second.

Its the transfer rate from your external to the PC that is your bottleneck. Firewire or USB 2.0 harddrive would give you the best transfer rates for an external device. If you put a few pics on your desktop the pics should load fater than they did before right? I'd pick up a internal 7200 Sata drive I just bought a 1 Terabite for mine for about $80 from newegg.com and it works great transfering 4.5 gb files and have plenty room now. :D

Walking out the door. :cheers:

* USB 1.1 – 15 Mbps
* FireWire (1394a) – 400 Mbps
* USB 2.0 – 480 Mbps
* FireWire 800 (1394b) – 800 Mpbs
* SATA 1.5 – 1.5 Gbps
* SATA 3.0 – 3.0 Gbps

regular old USB cable
Cheap old external hard drive
= FJ-40 speed

Back to the drawing board. Thanks again guys.

I'm kinda obsessed with computers if you couldn't tell and since I'm not allowed to work on my truck, I am stuck web-crawling tonight.

I'm broke! I also have to go to work in the morning to discuss moving into another segment.

I`m not a big drinker on a work night.:popcorn:
