It should be able to take the weight of the sahara bar and winch. The sahara bar is quite a bit lighter, right? Overseas, you can get a LC100 w/ turbo diesel and auto height control, and that TD engine probably weighs at least a couple hundred pounds more than the V8. Plus the TD has dual batteries, so another 40 lbs there.

The diesel models use a different torsion bar that is thicker. Dimensionally it is also not the same, so they can not be swapped out.

and you can also get it with a OEM winch factory installed

Broke front diff

Guys,

I have no idea how I missed this thread.

The story goes like this.

I took the champagne 100 out wheeling with a bunch of Rovers. We were all climbing a very steep hill and the hill sloped to the left and there were deep ruts. I was going very slow because I did not want to crush my driver side rear panel. I was slipping a little but not much and was not on the gas at all. Also, this 99 did not have a rear locker. I was almost to the top and I hear a very load bang and I knew that was not a good thing especially with a bunch of rover guys around. I drove the truck back home and took it to the dealer the next day. My truck had a lift, 285s, ARB bumper and was was covered in mud. The guys said, they will check it out. They called and they said I broke the diff carrier. I asked , how much and they said, nothing, it is covered under the powertrain warranty. I was like, sweet - my wife is not going to kill me.

I would recommed an arb.

If you want to know what a blown diff sounds like check this out.
This is my 99 with a blown 2pinion.

The diff carrier was fried and I needed a new PS axle.

Did you buy a new or used 4 pinion? Did you install it? What was the total amount to replace? Did you have the rear diff locked when you broke your front diff?

Thanks,

uzj100

I bought a "new" unit from the local dealer (got a killer deal at $899:doh: ) after blowing the pinion gears through the case. And yes the replacement is a 4 pinion unit that comes complete, all you have to do is add oil. I've now had it out on some trails & trials, and have had no problems.
