So I picked up a new pair of last years Vasque Sundowners on saterday. I haven't had a full leather boot for over 10 years. The last time I broke in a pair I wore them in the shower and then walked around all day in them. Besides that, any other way to break them in? I wore them all day Saturday and today. My feet are killing me.

I just wear them around the house for a while then to work for a couple of weeks. I support a production line so I cover a few miles in a day at work. If they are uncomfortable around the house take them back. Give them a good coat of your favorite leather conditioner/water proofer before you wear them out of the house. Getting a good boot wet before it is conditioned, IMHO, will shorten it's life.

Just wear them like you would any shoe.

I bought them at Red Wing and they conditioned them before I walked out the door. I know the feeling, I walked the production line all day today training new SOP.

If you got Red Wings you are probably done with break in already. :D

x2 on no soaking. weakens the leather. if you've already worn them outside then they prolly belong to you. sundowners don't take as long to break in as whites, but they aren't as immediately comfy as red wings. just keep wearing them & conditioning 'em. moleskin on your hotspots and stay away from cotton sox.

Keep them away from any dogs if you ever use Mink Oil. I've seen many friends loose new boots to hunting dogs who love to chew mink oil covered leather boots.

wear em a little bit at a time. nothing says you got to spend a 12 hr day in em. I always keep my old boots and alternate between the 2 pairs until the new ones are broke in
