So will this work on a 1980 FJ40 US model or will I still need to source a US part ( bracket) to make it work. If so is it the firewall bracket or carb side bracket ?

It worked on my 79 FJ40 US with a City Racer non-US fuji carb just fine.

I have sent many of these over to US - so presumably they’ll work. Although never tried fitting one to a US rig myself.
