My rear pads are down to 3mm and my front have plenty of material left. I bought TRD pads during the 40%off sale for front a rear but since I only need to replace rear pads, is there any problem running different pads front and rear? Also, I will probably put better rotors on the rear. I am going to get front spacer installed along with new shocks so maybe better to just replace the front pads and rotors at the same time.

Do it all at once. Then you will really be able to notice the benefit of the new pads having them all around.

You don't need to replace front and rear, but I would. I went to the TRD pads and stock Toyota rotors on all four corners a couple of months ago and have been happy with this setup. They stop much better than the stock pads but have been a bit more noisy.

I just had TRD pads installed all around. I haven’t noticed any additional noise. Brake effect seems to be a bit more linear, but I may be imagining that. I also had new rotors from Frozen Rotors installed. I don’t know if the cryogenic thing is just snake oil, but I thought I would give it a try — I figure new pads and rotors are cheaper than doing a big brake kit or sourcing the parts to change to the 2016+ front brakes.
