I got a m/c rebuild kit from SOR for 75-80 non-usa models. It came with new check valves, pistons and springs, a stop screw and a couple of copper washers. It actually came with three washers but one is about 1 1/4" and it doesn't go anywhwere. There are also two little rubber cups that don't seem to go anywhere.

But that's not the problem.

When I took the old pistons out, the long spring went flying and ended up under a bench. I found it no problem. Now that I am re-assembling it, I see in my FSM that the long spring should have a stopper that looks to snug it against the bottom if the cylinder. I don't have one, and I can't find one on the floor of my shop.

Does anyone know if all m/c's came with the stopper?

Hi Rob, thanks for the offer.

I am pretty sure there was no stopper in it before I dismantled it. I have crawled all over the floor of my shop and can find no signs of a stopper.

So, I have put it back together without a stopper.

The rebuild kit came with a cotter pin as well. Any idea where that goes?

I could see the metal bottom, and I'm sure if it was in there it would have come loose when I was honing the bore.

I've reassembled it and it seems fine. It's not bled or installed yet though. That won't happen for a few weeks.

I saved a lot of those parts but have no idea which one you are referring to. I'd be willing to mail one if someone can post a picture.

Thanks for the offer. But I am quite convinced that there never was a rubber stopper at the end of the spring in my m/c.

I guess we'll see if it makes a difference when I get it back on the truck.
