I can't seem to find any info on installing a brake controller, all models take the brake signal from the brake switch at the brake pedal, this is however 24 volt on a BJ74.I'm thinking of running the brake light switch through a 24 volt relay and feeding it with 12 volt from the solar inverter. Will this work?
The old style brake controller that taps into the hydraulic brake line is not available any more.Maybe I should run a second brake light switch at the pedal with 12 volts.
Any Ideas...... and thanks for any help

I know this is an old thread but I'm just installing a brake controller myself.. in a 12v 60 however.. But I can shead some light.

Generally when you want to use a piece of 12v electronics in your 24v truck you will want to install a relay that is switched by 24v but provides 12v power from your 12v converter. I see no reason why this technique wouldn't work here. Take your brake light wire and use it to switch your converter's 12v power. The load drawn by the brake controller will be minimal for the brake light wire, however, you will want to make sure your 12v converter can handle the load drawn by the brakes themselves. My brake controller wants a 20amp breaker/fuse for 1-2 axle trailer, so add up your total load on your 12v converter and ensure that it can handle it.
