One thing i always thought would be cool for the LC is full air “coils” in the rear, like the GX has.

I don’t think that it’s practical or anything, nor do i know if someone makes them for the 200, but they are cool and would probably work very well for stuff like this.

I wonder if the GX bags are capable enough for a swap.

No dog in this fight but Arnott makes an air suspension that some folks use to replace the GX OEM offering.

Lots of info to consider....

I just received the Firestone Airbags and I am not a fan of the quality. I put airbags on my 80 to help with leveling and happy with those but these seam cheap by comparison. I mean the air inlet port is super weak and looks like it would even last a year.

SO back to shocks but from what I am finding BP51s are found in lift kits. Can they be used to replace OE shocks with no other mods? I do not want any lift ( I have the 80 for that). Is there an option to up the dampening/rebound w/o going with BP51s?

Thanks

I thought the Firestone airbags looked flimsy when I got them. But I had them installed @3 years ago and they have worked perfectly so far. I have two air inlets mounted by the hitch receiver.

Are the Firestone bags the only ones available for the 200 Series? I am not seeing anything for the Land Cruiser from Air Lift unfortunately.

I had the Airlift on my 100 and because they were not available for the 200 I installed Firestone. 5 years and 60k miles, mostly towing something, and they are still in good condition.

OK Based on this I will give these a try. ~$100 and a couple of hours...

They're pretty low tech things, but pretty bomb proof and effective. Make sure to run your lines in a way they won't get twisted or pinched. There's a convenient flange under the tailgate flap to hide the valves.

Generally any aftermarket shock is going to have more damping than stock. The "regular" OME shocks, Dobinsons, Bilstein, or other shocks that are available with ~2" lifts should be good to use. For the use that you're describing combined with air bags I would go with the cheaper OME or Dobinson shocks; the monotube and remote res shocks are probably overkill.

OK, based on what y'all suggested I installed the airbags, got Icon shocks and set the tires to 46. I know, I know I changed too many variables to know if any one thing would have fixed the bouncy bouncy but once I was under there to install the airbags I figured I should replace the shocks at the same time.

Truck rides so much better, even got to almost immediately load up 4 people to get dinner and am very happy with the results. I won't be able to load it up with dogs and full drawers until after X Mas to really know how it will do. Hopefully I won't have to now put Icons on the front...

Anyway, Thanks everyone!
