Landpimp, I'd love to see a few closeups of how you wired your license plate, I have that metal cover as well but there are no bolt holes for it! How does it mount?

Well, I finally got my new pair and these STILL don't work. I contacted BOSE and I think I need an amp to make these things work.. Not sure why some people have had success with these, but that is the direction I'm heading now.

I mounted my 151s behind the seat with some flat strap I made up. I only have a head unit, no amp. That may come at some other time though. Even without the amp, the sound is very good.

As far as the no sound goes, I would double check the headunit's schematics re wiring up just two speakers and see if you're good there. You may even want to try another set of speaker wires as a check. Good luck.

Blue77- Do you have the hooked up to just the rear channels? I bought a new head unit as my last one died while messing around with a few things.

that makes me think your doors are from an earlier 40, if I recall the wiring on the 7 fj40 I just got is not covered and no holes for the cover. The 82 is just like it came from Toyota, cover was there when it was made

Humm, I'm not saying it's impossible, but everything else on this truck has been original. It's odd that I bought it with the cover in the parts box if it never went on the door.

Well, never did figure what the problem was the first time, but I have a new kenwood head unit and the new 151s and she works great! I even added in the BT connection with my phone so I can answer calls and still shift! The only thing I changed was that the original stereo had them connected to the front channels instead of the rear, so this time I wired them to the rear. :meh:
