Just got home from the maiden voyage in the cruiser. Pretty light run. Saturday afternoon I ran Coyote Canyon and saw 2 nice 60s. We returned to the Standlunds Inn as I was determined not to get caught in another midnight sandstorm while camping. My tent sucks and strangely last year on this same weekend the temps dropped dramatically (80s) and it got very windy late in the evening. With my woman and her mother in tow we opted for a motel. Had an excellent dinner at Carlees. Next morning we made quick work of some good grub at Kendalls and headed out to Ocotillo to run Sandstone. Very few people out, kinda rode along with a nice older couple in a Rubicon out to Sandstone only to find it was closed:mad:. So we drove out to the base of heart attack hill area, then turned around and headed home. Drove back through Banner grade and stopped at the Julian Apple Pie Co. just in time to order the last 3 pieces of apple pie, they closed the door and shut down after that.:)

What can I say, mother in law wants to buy a cruiser now, she is an excellent driver and I let her drive us out of CC, it was nice to stretch my 80s legs a bit. Thanks to SDTrux for making it a sound vehicle. Thanks to Steve for the dog booties inspiration, Sue was climbing near vertical granite boulders in her new sneakers. :grinpimp:

So how does the new one compare to the old one? Does the 95 feel any different than the 94?

Coyote is still fun even if they've made it sooo easy now. I love it back there in Sheep Canyon.

Coyote's easy now? Who's "they" and what did they do?

I haven't been for a few years, but this is news to me

Took off a piece of the large rock at the top of one of the rock gardens making easier to get around that corner and filled in severl of the holes. It's the one section that you had to go far left and just enough off camber that larger trucks like H2's would hit the rock and from more rumors bust out the rear quarter panel window. From the info I've heard, it was done to make it easier for the INS to get up there. IIRC that came from our friendly State Park ranger that stopped by and chatted with us last time we were up there in May.

It's still enough to keep 2wd out, but that's about it.

Nice report. I'm thinking about heading out to Coyote Canyon the day after Thanksgiving just to get away after a day of family madness.

hmmm

Due to the differences being so minor as far as models, I can only comment on the difference in mods. I can say for sure that the OME comp kit is really worth the money. I found the limit of my travel upfront when launching out of the wash on the way out of there, its not that the new shock/spring set up is bad it's just that I could use some more travel, clearance for the tires. :)

Very nice. How deep was the water crossing? is there a good amount of water flowing through the creek?

There was no water in the first and second crossing, the third crossing water line was about 2/3 up my tire. Thats with 3" of lift and 35s.
