Hi All

I'm looking at various options for an engine transplant in my 1989 BJ60 and I think the logical way to go is a 15B-F (4.1L DI 4-cyl), to be later turbocharged. To do this, I will need a boost compensator.

I am familiar with diesels, and I have totally rebuilt the injection pump from my (non-turbo) 2L-powered Hilux in the past.

I see various part numbers used for the boost compensator pushrods, and am wondering what (if any) significant differences there are between them.

I have an old injection pump bought cheaply which came from a 1988 Camry with a 2C-T (2.0L IDI 4-cyl turbo diesel). The boost compansator housing and all internals are the same as the boost compensator on a 15B-FT (and many other turbo diesels), except the pushrod. The 2C-T pushrod is P/N 22321-6A220. This part was only used on the 2C-T engine.

The 15B-FT used pushrod P/N 22321-5C130. This part was also used in the last year or two of 2L-T engines (2.4L IDI 4-cyl). So it is not specific to a larger capacity engine.

It looks to me that the changes in part number are more related to date, than the specifics of the engine it is fitted to. Has anyone seen any differences between different boost compensator pushrods?

Picture of my venerable late-model rotary pump 3B, with 567k kms on the clock.

Thanks!
