Blue is reassembling the diff now and he had to replace the 3rd member too. Neither of us can figure out what would cause the ring gear to totally shear away from the carrier plate. That took out the pinion which took out the 3rd member.
When all is said and done the rear diff will be perfect and ready for another 40 years. The belts and hoses showed up today and he installed a new battery w/marine terminals on it.
Since the motor seems fine I'm hoping for the best with the front diff, clutch and tranny. If anything is not right it will be up to the new owner (none specified) to handle.
BTW....just a few other things.....all glass is original, no cracks, all windows go up and down with ease. The aftermarket S/W guages under the dash were installed by the original owner in the '70's. They all work which is probably why the dash guages don't. The PO didn't trust the Toyo guages.
Interesting little round tag screwed to the passenger side front inner fender, T-67.
Except for the 2 rusted out spots in the floor (seat pan area) and some very minor body work all this wagon will need is paint and brakes.
I should be able to drive it tomorrow! More then.
