Bolt holes on head

Anyone know what the two outer most bolt holes on the head (F155), on either side of the exhaust manifold are for? The exhaust manifold does not attach there and the two F155 motors I have do not have anything mounted there.

they're there so you can bolt a late model manifold to them...
