Body of missing off-road trucker found in Stave Lake
A body pulled from Stave Lake has been identified as a man who went missing nearly a year ago while he was attending an off-road truck festival, RCMP have confirmed.
Langley resident John Kahler was last seen alive early Nov. 4, 2007, when he was having a drink around a campfire on the mudflats of Stave Lake near Mission, B.C.
Later that morning, his pickup truck was found stuck in the mud, with the doors open, the radio on and the wipers going.
Extensive searches of the area failed to turn up any trace of Kahler, until a kayaker recently spotted a body in the lake.
Lori Kahler, the man's sister, said her family has been living a nightmare since her brother disappeared.
Police said there is no evidence of foul play, but they are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
