Blower Resistor

has anyone just re-soldered the old blower resistor instead of replacing the damn things?

I would think that the solder would melt, but I could be wrong.

I am pretty sure that the solder wouldn't work. too low of a melting point on that. on my '79 pickup, i have twisted the two broken ends together before and had that work for a few years!

Tried it, solder melted....
Ended up re clamping it...
Hasn't failed yet (5 years ago)

What did you guys do to re-clamp it? the ceramic part of the blower resistor is all cracked on mine.

Blower resistors are not that expensive and I have most of the common ones in stock for both 12V & 24V Cruisers....

Resistor wire is readily available in different sizes. I bought a small thread-sized spool over 20 years ago in Edmonton (forgot where) and have always made my own since then.
