blower motor weirdness

Okay. Truck is a 1990 pickup with a 22re. Blower motor gave up the ghost last week. Was working ok on speeds 3 and 4 (max).

I checked the FAQ and Pappy's thread.

I replaced the blower motor with a brand new one and also got a new resistor.

No problem with the install, as there seems to be only one possible way to install both above parts.

New fan works ok but runs strongly on speeds 1 and 2 and slowly on 3 and 4.

Something wrong with the relay? fan switch setup? I will live with it as is, but it would be cool if the fan would run slowly on speed 1 and fast on 4.

I would check the contacts in the switch to see what condition they're in. See this thread for further details...

My fan switch is a replacement from a wrecker. I can try to get another, but they are usually in the same state as mine - 300K or more. I might pull the dash apart on the weekend and check out the switch.

Check the contacts on the switch, the way the speed control works is by varying the resistance of the ground.

I suspect the contacts on speeds 3 and Max will be melted or burnt. I will look into it and look for a replacement switch.
