Hey folks,

Anyone have a used working blower motor they want to sell me?

Took mine apart today and one brush was still attached to the copper wire, albeit almost non-existent, and the other side is just a copper wire with no brush.

Went to AC/DC in Duncan and picked up a couple brushes but they are a tad too big and could possibly sand them down to fit and solder them onto the copper wires...but, is it worth it?

My commentator (spelling?) has quite a few grooves likely because of worn brushes, so is it worth attempting to smooth that out too?

At the end of the day the lazy side of me would just like to get a used motor and throw it in there...but a used motor may land me in the same situation unless I can see the brushes/commentator/armature are in noticeably good condition.

Under dash. Just ordered one on ebay for an early 80's Celica/Camry/Cressida. Cost $45 new after shipping/taxes/duties. Should be here within a couple weeks.

However, if someone has one locally then I may be interested as I can keep the new one as a backup as two weeks without a heater will be somewhat lame.

So....

1. Cleaned original motor up, sanded the commentator/armature, soldered new copper brushes on from AC/DC and put it back together. Works perfectly! Much better then when I purchased the truck...I had noticed the motor seemed a little slow but it was putting some air out so I didn't bother looking into it until now.

2. New Cressida motor from JC Whitney on route...we'll see if it's a direct fit when it gets here.

3. Low and behold, the PO had an extra blower motor in one of the parts bins that came with the truck. Exact same brush issue as the one I pulled out so I think I'll get another pair of brushes, clean everything up, give it a shot of black paint and have it as another spare...or if someone else needs one on the Island then I can have it to them quickly.

Cheers!

Nice work man! Glad it all came together and you are even going to have a couple spares.
