I received an email that is being passed around about some volunteer work needed on Blanca Peak. I put a call into Rocky Mountain Field Institue and I am waiting for a return call to get some additional details on what's needed. Here is the body of the email I received with contact information. I was thinking CLC could make a trail run up Blanca to take supplies up to Lake Como. Post up if you would be intereseted so I can get an idea of how many rigs we could commit to making a supply run.

I am contacting you today about an opportunity to partner on a project on Blanca Peak this summer. We will be running a total of 38 days of trail and restoration work from July 11-August 27, with about 15 individuals. The purpose of the project is to create a sustainable summit trail, and to rest! ore the area around Como Lake Basin to ensure that the area remains open to all recreationists.

We need assistance in transporting our tools, food, and supplies to the basin before the start of our program on the 11th of July, as well as a couple of other times during our stay in the basin. We are already partnering with one 4-wheel groupfor a mid-month re-supply. Because our organization does not possess any vehicles capable of making the drive up Como Lake Road, we are seeking additional partners to help make this project a success.

Is it possible to distribute this request to the Colorado Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs' email distribution list? Or, if you are aware of any groups that would be interested in partnering in this project, could you please put them in contact with me?

Again, the intent of the project is to make sure the area remains open to all recreationists, and we hope that the 4 whe! el drive community is supportive in our goal.

Tha nk you,
Joe Lavorini

I'm interested - I've got an m416 as well, but not sure if I could get that up Blanca.

I talked to Joe Lavorini and they are looking for help getting supplies up to Como Lake July 9-10. I will be on the Ultimate Adventure those days so I won't be able to help those days.

Who will be available to help that weekend?

I have seen a jeep on 33's make it as well as Vic's 40. I'm thinking Matt's FJ will make it as well. I wouldn't recommend making the trip by yourself and it would be best to go with someone who has been on this trail before.

How about a fat 80? I'll be available that weekend.

I just sent these folks an email - we'll see if they get back to me.

Just got an email back from Joe Lavorini
They are expecting 4 to 6 vehicles and meeting near the trailhead (Lake Como Road?) at 9:30 on Saturday. He's going to give me a call this afternoon probably.

Anybody else interested? And after another look at the pictures on Trail Damage - can a locked 80 on 33s make it? More importantly ... can a locked 80 on 33s with me driving make it:D

Well, I'm in - talked to another guy who's up there alot and doesn't think I'll have to much trouble!

Any dates yet for the future supply runs?

I think Jeepers Creepers is going up in two weeks. That said - this run was a serious CF. Hope the resupply runs are better organized.
