Wellcraft19 - my truck came with the beautiful gold emblems! I took them off with thin fishing line with no damage to the paint or emblems. Just slide it under one side and keep moving it back and forth. It will cut right through the original tape. I then sold my used gold emblems on Ebay for $75!

Thanks for the tip. I took mine on the ol' Audi off with dental floss, but like I said, it never really turned out OK (it was a clunker so it did not matter).

What color is yours? Mine's white and ANY defect (like glue residue or scuffed paint after an emblem) is likely to be more visible.

If I was "sure" it'd be OK, they'd be gone already. But, should maybe try on one of them...

Wellcraft19 - my truck is black so everything shows up as well. After removing the emblems I cleaned up any adhesive residue with adhesive remover. A little wax, and as was good!

Pint,
You have convinced me to go out and try during the week. Thnx!
Report will be coming.

Anyone have pics of the back for these folks looking? Andrew - post up some of the emblems on the tailgate?
The front looks sharp - I can't wait until I have time to complete my project.

Those are the ones for the molded one piece with "Land Cruiser" on the top half lift gate. The base kit avaiable is the emblems with out the rear, then you order the rear "Land Cruiser" part in the same color as your rig. I just went through this, again. I have ordered on line more than 5 base packages. I can tell you the 2000-2002 Black Pearl Emblems are not avaiable from Toyota, and every web company does not update their web page. They list items, and when you order it, they get them from Toyota.

goldrushplating.com does have a kit for the 1998-2002 LC, for $249 with free shipping. The kit is probably a chrome one they dip, which does not matter. Unless somebody knows of any dealer/distributor who has the Toyota ones in stock, which were listing for less $$$$ ???

?

Has anybody with 00-02 replaced the letters with the one piece molded badge.I like the one piece better, easier to clean and looks better imo.

few years ago Toyota dumped the last of the black pearl emblems packages, some of us got em for I think $50 a set......this was after i painted my gold emblems black, still have my set......in the box(no not selling)

De-Bling'd

I think the finger nails worked the best - better than the goo off. All rear emblems are off and ready for the paint process. I might only put on the Jelly bean wearing the Sombrero - to cover up those 3 holes.
If anyone is looking for a "Chrome" set, PM me fast before I paint them. I am sure I can paint the gold ones just as easy as the Chrome ones.

i did that on my 99. it looks a lot better. the thing with the one piece emblem is that it has mount nubbies on the back as i guess you are suppossed to drill holes? i opted to break the nubbies off and use adhesive instead.

go buy a set of regular chrome emblems, sandblast the chrome off and paint them. Done. Now you have fresh emblems with fresh adhesive ready to go. Make sure to mark the location of originals.

Great idea Loud, except I would skip the sand blasting of plastic parts like these emblems - I would not think that they would hold up?. Some have recommended a very lite steel wool - but I opted for just cleaning them. I put 3 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. So far they look better than expected. I will post up the process I used very soon, I am letting them cure and then the install. If anyone can't wait and needs info, just let me know.
