black out, heat reflective window shade / covers (2 Viewers)

heatshieldstore.com makes custom fit window covers that are both heat reflective and black out. they offer them for the GX470. weather tech makes a similar product for the GX460 (without suction cups).

these units use suction cups and there are small light gaps.

the build is OEM quality in my opinion. there are some light gaps, but this is probably to be expected. the rear passenger (middle row) covers have some areas where you might not want to jam the covers into the crevices because the window split framing makes for less room to cram the covers.

above is the rear windscreen. you can cram some of the window cover in some areas.

above is the middle row windows. as you can see, cramming the covers into the crevice doesn't work as well due to the window split frame taking up space in the crevice.

the middle row is cut asymmetrically, there is 1 sharp corner on the middle row shades, they don't line up when the shades are stacked mirrored. they line up when the shades are stacked silver side facing the same way.

the front shade had the most gap, but it also has the deepest crevice, so perhaps a more careful installation will cover more.

third row seating covers were the tightest.

using a much less cramming technique to mount yielded better results. there's still some small light gaps.

not cramming the middle row covers looks much better.

I camp inside my truck with it's just me so these would be cool.

Get a roll of Reflectix and cut each window cover about 1/4" - 1/2" bigger than the window opening so you can just stuff it in between the glass and trim. I did this with my old Explorer and it was great for privacy and blocking all the light. No need for magnets, velcro, or suction cups since it is lightweight enough to hold itself up.
