I have destroyed my BJ74 drivers door, on my last encounter with a 'big bad stump'. My body shop has looked for two months for a drivers door, including sourcing a 'pristine' used door from Edmonton, which had to be sent back, since the body shop said it was the 'worst piece of crap' he has seen in his career (the body shop is out of pocket $100 and still waiting for his Visa credit to show up).

So I should have asked this before, but ....

Are the Canadian spec BJ70 doors (1985-1987) the same as the BJ74 doors ? If so I can get from my local unfriendly Toyota dealer.

short-wheel base doors aren't the same as medium wheel base doors. the difference lies winthin the window frame. You could transform them, take the windowframe from your bj74 and weld it back on the bj70 door.

Have you checked with G&S , on their website they have those 74s that they are parting out. Merry Christmas

Try Japan4x4 .This isnt going to be cheap which ever way you go. These doors can go for $500-$1200 in oz because the mining industry chews them up.

If your frame is ok,there are door skins available in metal and glass

Hey guys, a word of advice... I *#^@'d up my drivers door on my BJ73, and the only door I could find was one from 4Wheel Auto in Edmonton. I was told the door was " mint ", and after I paid ( gulp ) $500 for it and had it shipped to me I ended up with a rusty door ( one spot was rusted right through near where the mirror mounts to it ) and the thing was so dented it was like ripples when you ran your hand down it. Needless to say I was pissed so I called them and said there is no way I can pay this much for a door thats worth MAYBE $100. Well, the only thing I could get out of them was a "GREAT discount on my next order". So 2 weeks later I was shopping for my lift kit - they said the best they could do was $100 off the list price... some deal.

Now I don't mean to slander anyones business, and all my previous orders went fine with them... but I was burned on the door man, real bad. I would suggest them sending DETAILED pics of the door you are going to buy... no matter who you decide to get one from... ;)

the last thing you need is to spend an extra couple hundred dollars to get the door to look like it should...

My body shop had the same experience with 4Wheel Auto in Edmonton as I described. Banged up BJ74 doors sold as "mint" condition. Buyer beware.

Yeah man, everybody make sure to ask for pics before buying! The door I got was an absolute joke.
