BJ73 Dash Lights

G'day all, new around these parts. I've got an Australian-spec 1985 BJ73.
Should the lights on the instrument cluster light up as a self-test when you turn the key to ignition? A VDJ76 I was in recently did and some videos on youtube suggests they should. If they should turn on, where should I start looking? Is there a relay somewhere that controls it?

Not sure whether a BJ73 behaves the same, but here is a pic of the dash on my BJ74 with the key in the "on" position. The Preheat light has a bad bulb, but would otherwise be illuminated.
