BJ 73, aircon

Hi all, please can someone help. I have a BJ73, when putting on the fan, and trying to put on the A/C, the compressor doesn't engage. I have checked the fuses in the foot well, but is there somewhere else I could check. When the vehicle is off, but have the ignition in the acc position, I turn the aircon switch, I hear a click in the dash,,, any help would be great.
I also have a problem with the rev counter, sometimes when idling it works, but as soon as you touch the accelerator it stops working. Tap the dash and it works for a while then stops.

Tac.. Sounds like a loose connection on the back of the cluster or in the gauge itself. As for the A/C is it charged with freon or r12?? If it is low the compressor won't turn on.. I have the same symptoms and will charge it and that will prob fix.. Low on my list as the top is going to come off for summer. Good luck. An A/C shop or you could hoof a gauge up an see if pressurized .. My 2cents..

Thanks, I think it is r12. Will find out and try get it topped up this weekend.

Low gas in ac system will not activate ac, ,,,,,,,, in my bj74, my magnetic coil burnt out therefore that is another cause ac won't engage at the compressor itself, my ac works great now , good luck

Hi, thanks tried the gas this weekend, and still nothing. Oldtoy74 also mentioned the magnetic coil... will keep trying. Thanks for the advice, good to know these things.

Try the following ol mate , Turn on ac switch, with fan on, then check for voltage/ current at compressor/ magnetic coil, if getting power it's pointing to a toasted mag coil, I had mine repaired re-wound, as opposed to replacing completely , Have fun!! Cheers
