birfield removal

Does the birfield/axle slide out without removing the two swivel hub knuckle bearings?
I have conflicting advice about this.
This is in a 1985 fj73

yes, if I understand your question

You have to take out the top and bottom holders. The bottom is connected to the suspension. The top is is right next to the speed sensor.
Take those out and the birf will come out

Thanks guys, full knuckle rebuild is overdue anyway. And the kits are cheaper than I thought. Both sides including wheel bearings for around $100 australian.

Most kits come with the trunnion bearings. Sure it comes with wheel bearings too?
