I am about to buy shocks. I have a 2.5" Hell Creek suspension and MAF anti-inversion shackles. Should I order the shocks for the 2" or 4" suspension lift?

Sent from my iPad using IH8MUD

That would depend on how long the shackles are. I have 2.5" springs on mine but when I put longer shackles on it 7-8 years ago the shocks were seriously limiting down travel and I bought shocks for a 4" lift. Should have bought 5100's myself instead of the cheap Pro Comps but I'll replace them eventually.

These are my shackles...they are 4.75" pin to pin.

Flex it up and mesure is the best way to tell. If you have to guess I would go 4" but I would mesure to be sure.

I have the 2.5 OME springs, the anti-inversion shackles, and just put the 4" 5100 bilsteins on it. The recommendation from my local 4x4 shop that I ordered from said that bilsteins run a little short. They fit just fine. I was nervous about the front as the shocks only have about 3" of exposed piston but I don't think the springs will ever compress to come close to bottoming them out. I used my high lift to pick the corner of the truck up and it still wasn't close to compressing that much.

What was the final word on this? I also have a 2.5" lift and am shopping around for some bilsteins and am curious about the 2" vs. 4" sets

I ordered the Bilsteins for a 4" lift. One set ended up being much too long, so I sent one set back and got one set for a 2" lift. If I recall, the rear has the longer set installed.

So the answer (for me) was you need two 2" lift and two 4" lift shocks.

So, Boston, how do you like the Hell Creek springs a year or so later ?

I like them. I have only put a few hundred miles on them so they are not even a little broken in. I have no complaints other than my lifetime warranty is gone.

Great, thank you...

Any chance you could get those Bilstein part #s? :)

33-185606 Front ?
33-185552 Rear ?

Is what I'm looking at, but it's a bit confusing without having the springs on and being able to measure....

:D

I'm sorry to hear of your passing.

It just sucks buying something thinking you have a lifetime warranty and a few months later, POOF it's gone.

I have the 2.5" OME, medium front and heavy rear. I went with the 2" lift rates Billsteins. I've had no complaints.
