Bikini top channel placement

I have a unidentified bikini top that a local cruiser shop ordered a channel for. They told me what they thought it was but I forgot. Anyhow, I'm finally getting around to installing it but I'm having a hard time finding a good/right spot to mount it. It looks like on the front my windshield sprayer is in the way and on the back side of the windshield frame the review mirror is in the way. Here are some pics of my best guess to correct position. Any thoughts on mounting or finding the correct channel, if this one is wrong, is appreciated.

You've got it oriented wrong. The open part of the channel should be facing to the front and the lip on the top should fit it to it so you are cinching the top into the channel. The holes on the channel should sit flat in front of the vertical lip on top of the windshield.

Now that I look at the top again, you may have a snap on top. The besttop brand bikini has a plastic edge in the front that slides into the channel w/ no snaps.

There are two snaps on the front of the top and that is all. It looks similar to a top my Dad has on his '75. We had a chanel that it slid into too. This one doesn't feel like it has a plastic piece in it. It was orderd from Man-a-Fre but I can't find it on their parts list.

The groove faces forward. The channel lays on top of the windshield fram and the curves of the two should follow each other. It looks like you may need to put a snap on either side, just below the installed channel. You can get thes at most fabric stores.

My set up is similar. Easiest to install the channel while standing inside the truck on the front seats. Get it centered, drill holes, screw in channel. Put the top on and get it snug and then meausure for the holes on the sides of the windshield frame and install the snaps.

If it doesn't have a plastic channel on the top, you can try folding the leading edge of the top onto itself and stitch it to form a small pocket and then fasten in a thin strip of metal to the inside bottom of the fold thereby creating a lip to fit into the channel. You should have plenty of top to still make it over the rollbar as long as it's in the stock location. Or you can always just drop $50 and get a besttop bikini if you're not real good with a needle and thread.
