We have cut up MTR's and BF's and the MTR is tougher, and thicker in the sidewall by far over the BF.

The tread groove in the blocks on the MTR also allow the tread of the MTR to flex more when deflated and clean themselves well in mud.

The MTR also drives on road a little nicer than the BF MT, and I prefer the MTR over the BFMT or the TREXUS in wet road conditions.

I am yet to see, apart from sidewall strength, any reason to go to TREXUS over MTR for our 4wding here, especially when the TREXUS is double the price here.

I have found the MTR can be hard to balance when running loaded up to 100mph, when road travelling on hot days here in AUS, after the tyres have done 10,000 miles +

Wear of the MTR and BFMT seem to be close enough to be negligable also.
