Beware of 2016 & 2017 Tacoma 3.5 litre V6 engine problems

These two years can develop serious and expensive motor problems possibly due to defective oil control piston rings.
The motor is the 3.5 litre model 2GR FKS and the problem was corrected in the 2018 year and beyond.

Update on newer Tundra problems. The 2024 models are showing
poor quality in a number of areas. Paint jobs are not up to Toyota standards
unless they are built in Japan. Important parts like A/C condensers leaking.
Rear differentials are showing metal fragments even after only 10,000 miles.
Items like plastic dash knobs fall off. Now the hybrid engines are also
having issues like the gasoline models although hybrids are not yet recalled.
Good idea to have an extended warranty. Turbo air filters should be changed
before specs and engine oil should be changed earlier also.
