Ouch. Yeah I took mine back off the other day. Not cheap ones (Spidertrax) but I just had done it for looks. Was over the worry.
That last question you? While I agree a little, the little lip even if perfectly tight does not hold the weight of the truck. It mainly centers the wheel. My OE wheels have a bit of a bevel on the back and I would argue hardly ride on the hub. It is the studs that need to be hardy enough to hold the clamping forces.
