Hi there!

I'm pretty new here. With the classifieds so packed with people from the stated, I was wondering what you guys think is the best way to find a cruiser to buy on the island. I'm hoping to find a HJ61 or a BJ60.

Thanks!

Welcome! I would say used victoria, nanaimo, comox or craigslist. consider heading to the mainland too, more consistent selection.

Good deals come up, you just have to know exactly what you are looking for and act fast (craigslist, UsedVictoria, Kijiji).

Main problems with 60s are frame and body rot, so make sure you actually inspect the truck before putting down money. If I was into 60 series I think I'd buy a solid one from the US (FJ62) and then swap in a diesel drive train from one of our rotten ones that are always for sale up here.

create alerts and notifications from the various used sites. apps work well too. Use both landcruiser and land cruiser in searches, and it doesn't hurt to throw in a spelling mistake or two.

Anything that's good or an alleged "deal" these days gets snapped up pretty quickly, and everything has a several thousand dollar popularity tax on it now. Even rusty junk.

Alternatively, there's Jim's House of Landcruisers.

What's your budget? If you're wanting a 60 in good shape then you'll be paying all three taxes...Toyota tax, Landcruiser tax, and rusty tax (which there seems to be a direct correlation between the amount of rust and the price...as the amount of rust goes down the price goes up) :-)
