By best I mean least likley to experience a road closure, I want to buy an alaskan pop top camper off a guy there but did not realize it would be a 16 hour rounder

basically hwy 3 all the way through. check drivebc.ca for any closures. we just came back from there last week, and there were reports of construction etc. didnt experience any though on the way there or back. if you only stop to pee and get gas...should be doable in about 6-7 hours. watch out through princeton as theres cops galore. also once past christina lake up and down the paulson pass..theres also cops galore all the way through castlegar and nelson. they like to use non marked black chevy sedans and tahoes.

might want to make it an overnighter or 2. its a nice town. a 20 minute drive north on the west side of the lake will take you to ainsworth hot springs & caves. definitely a nice relaxer before you head back...

yep...what john said. we chose to stop at osooyos both ways since the lil one gets ancy after a more than half a days drive. its about the half way mark. last thing you want to do is be stuck in one of the passes in a snowstorm, or at night where you might slide off a cliff due to black ice. drivebc has good up to date hwy cams...
