So, I have this home build dive camera housing. Times have moved on and I got a GoPRO. I'm planning on taking on my next diving trip. I bought a new housing for it to add a flat lens port.
I got to thinking that my video housing would make a really nice housing for an UW dive light. And I built it with a fiberglassed in nut for mounting weights on. Can easily be adapted to a tab to mount the gopro on. Would make a pretty sweet light housing for the video camera.
It's big - built out of a compression coupler for 4" pvc, so there is plenty of room inside for electronics and batteries. I was thinking I could use a cheap (ryobi?) 18v lithium battery pack for power. It should fit inside with little effort.
I could then put some type of LED lightbulb or a set of bulbs in it. I could even possibly put an auto HID light in it if they are the best option. What says MUD? What type of light would work best? I'd rather not spend $200+ on a bulb though.
Thanks.
