Hello all,
A buddy and I are traveling N along the CA / OR coast on the way back from Overland Expo. We are looking for beta on dispersed camping, surf camps, etc. Anybody on here have any spots to share?
Thanks in advance!

Usal Beach is cool. A nice little offroad adventure for you as well. If you want a break from camping after that you can stay at the Tides Inn in Shelter cove. You pick up a dirt road just north of Fort Bragg and follow the coast north. If you search on "Lost Coast" you find lots of info on the trail.

In Oregon the Chetco River has some good camping off the coast.

Camped on the sand last night at Oceana Dunes. I was jonesin to play in the dunes this morning, but my buddy doesn't have much sand experience. If only I had my FJ40 handy!

Thanks Rusty!

Heading north on Usal Rd, MAKE SURE to drop in at Shelter Cove. Go to where the transported light house is (south end of the town where the air strip 'ends') and stop at the deli and have fish-n-chips - GOOD stuff!

Whenever we camp at Usal we pick a day, leave our camp set up and drive up Usal Rd to have fish-n-chips and then back to Usal again. Kids and I love the fish-n-chips there.

Best to be at Usal mid week to miss some of the 'locals'... Unless you enjoy their 'character'...

cheers,
george.

Hopefully I'm not derailing this thread, but were do you guys recommend going in Central California in the Sierras or Big Sur area?

My hopes are to find some place more secluded, no RV's with generators or loud car campers. Also some place that doesn't require a reservation 12 months in advance.
