Looks great....glad you were able to stick with it and thanks again for the water pump info....

No the conversion was done like a year ago...I am just fighting all the little issues that were never adressed by the guy who did the swap...Like hard mounting the tranny/t-cases with no flex in the crossmember....I have some sort of serious battery drain and am waiting on a new radiator that I ordered before Christmas...so some day soon it should move I hope...:) :)

Plumbers pipe works great for sliders. It is soft and thick... Resists denting very well.

I would not make a cage out of it butfor bumpers and sliders it is awesome..

I am still here. But all I ahve caught is lizard fish and Groupers.. I think the spear guns come out tomorrow ;)

You can borrow my bender :flipoff2: :D I need to exchange the die first though.

So far I cannot get the springs to flex enough to tell but it should not limit flex at all. You see any reason it should? How was PR? You catch anything?

man that 60 looks nice. you might need to help mace all his stuff is ooogly:flipoff2:

quote/sixty: front sliders are made from 1.5" schedule 40 & all other is made from 1.25" schedule 40 Black steel pipe.

is'nt this plummers pipe?

I would use black steel pipe for a cage but only if weight was not a consideration.

Pipe is designed to be used not only for carring liquids but also many structural applications. All you need is the strength peramiters & pipe can be designed for any application.

Black steel sched.. 40 steel uses 32ksi strength steel (mild steel) you can get steel pipe all the way up to 100ksi (very expensive)

If I ever build a cage for my 60 I'll use lighter tubing, since it is already so top heavy.

Which harbor Freight bender did you use?

How much fabricating experience do you have?

Your cruiser looks great!!!

just the cheap 12 ton bender. cost me $60 out the door w/ the 20% off coupon when it was on sale for $69.99.

it would have bent the 1.5" better if the die was consistant. I need to get it exchanged for a better one.

I have been doing fab work for on my own junk as well as on misc. construction projects for the last 10 years. (been in architecture/ construction for 15 years). Welding skill is important but that can be picked up fairly easily. The welding on this project was not all that great since I got real impatient at times.

I deal with layout everyday (cad drafting) so laying out the bends was easy. the only thing you have to remember with the HF pipe bender is that it bends from the center, not the end of a bend like a standard bender.

There is a ton of HF bender info on the pirate board here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=420587

I posted my expierence towards the end of that thread. I think it is real important to get a smooth, consistant die with you bender. on the 1.5" pipe I had to fill with sand & still got some kinking on the inside radius.
