Ok. So I figured that I would share some pics as I try to get Beastie to the resto side of the tracks. Here it sits in my garage after having the tires dowhsized from 37" to 29"
Picture of the wheels on 16.5" by 12" Easton rims.
Next up is electrical as the PO mounted some KC day lighters on the fenders which led me to start to undo the wiring.
Yes that's not a standard FJ45 straight six but a Chevy small block 400. I did manage to rewire the blower for the heater with the resistor. Also found a lot of abandoned wires. Here is my leftover bin with wires and snakeskin.
Also received a mismatched set of doors which I dismantled and sent of to a friend for some welding repair. Back to the electrical, the PO updated the system with new fuse block and wires.
I have two more circuits to reinvigorate, the cigarette lighter and the inspection light. Any comments on the utility of either? The cigarette lighter will also double as a USB charger for health reasons.
Lastly we come to the dash. The PO had taken out the standard instrument cluster and put in a series of gauges with two being installed in the dash. After much searching this website I saw the images of what a 1966 FJ45 dash should contain. With a little luck and a bit of welding up holes, I might get there.
Ultimate goal is to return it to its original Sea Foam great beauty as much as I can. More pics to follow as I "update" the heater back to its 1966 state, but any comments or warnings as to what problems I might encounter as I go down this path would be greatly appreciated.
BTW Easton wheels and rims and KC daylighters are available for a mutually agreed upon price.
