Sunday Write-up in the works! :bounce:

Ted was the backseat driver on that one I was trying stuff out that I did not want to do with my 100 that line was the best oneI think

Well covered from my perspective in the back seat. Stay tuned for the Sunday write up :p

SUNDAY  unedited!

I've never been a big fan of Sundays when it comes to weekend events like golfing our hunting but with with wheeling I'm changing my mind. While most others pack up and take off it also leaves the trails virtually empty.

By 11:00 camp was becoming a ghost town and those remaining decided to hit the trails. A total of 5 trucks including the TTT ran some of the trails we missed on Saturday. I hopped in Josh's 40 and we headed down 93A to to 93G which was blocked by a downed tree. We did a quick U-turn shot down to the intersection of 93C hung a right on 93D and then a left on 93F retracing some of our tracks from yesterday. Riding in Josh's 40 was an eye-opening experience as we crawled through Saturday's first tough spot with ease. Josh threw it into first gear and barely touched the gas, that thing crawled up the driver's side line with ease. it kind of pissed me off actually! Following was John in his FJ40 who succeeded on his 2nd try, then the TTT Cruiser with Steve behind the wheel. Then came Marius in the TTT Tacoma and he managed to make the climb as well. It took hims a few tried to get past the first large boulder but was eventually stressful, good job. Pulling up anchor Mr. Mom who also walked up the obstacle in his big 80 with few problems and in time we had run one of the hardest parts from Saturday.

We continued on ultimately getting to location that several FJ-Cruiser differentials broke last year, again we made fairly easy work of this spot and just kept on going.

We finally meandered our way to the top of 93C coming in from behind and above where I broke on Saturday. This is where things started to get a little interesting and I was suddenly just a little thankful for not having my truck on this trail. Josh and I were the first FJ40 down, we made it just fine, perhaps a little tippy which I hate but just fine. John followed in his 40 w/ Side Swipe riding shotgun and tried to roll it over but fortunately he failed in this endeavor and continued down the hill. Next up, the TTT Taco with Marius behind the wheel, as you can see in the picture this is a very steep section and the pic actually captures the real deal.

Everyone did a good job of navigating down this very steep hill and upon reaching the bottom I immediately recognized the location of my carnage from the day before. At this point Andy (remember him, I do) wanted to ride with Josh so I caught a lift in the Taco with Marius and Connor. Just as I climb into the back seat Josh pointed his FJ40 down 93B and said "Let's go". I didn't know what we were in for. :grinpimp:

I did not like riding in the back seat of the Taco but that was about the only seat available so I took it. Soon enough I became a fan of that seat and perhaps even a little intimate. It's entirely possible my fat a$$ saved the Taco from rolling over coming down 93B as that trail is VERY tight and even steeper. By now Connor had bailed out, he said to spot others but I now have my doubts about that. So we continue down the trail with Marius standing on the brake peddle griping about how the peddle sucks the whole time. Also by now Josh and John are long gone and we're basically leading he way down for the rest of the group. Marius did a fine job picking his way down the hill very slowly, we narrowly pushed between 2 trees and came upon a very tight right turn. Did I say steep? Taking that right turn on that steep hill was not easy, Marius was doing his best to navigate the various boulders, tree roots and drop offs but we found ourselves a little bound up at the apex of the sharp right turn. Somehow the wheels got pointed straight UP the hill and the truck wanted to go DOWN the hill. Now remember, it's me siting behind Marius, both of us on the driver's side and Connor had already bailed out of the passenger's side so all of the weight was on the left side, THANK GOD. With the steering wheel all bound up and the uphill (left) rear tire now about 4-5 feet off the ground I was grabbing for whatever i could hold on to. I clearly remember Woody announcing on the CB "I'm coming down to spot for the Tacoma" in a very serious tone. Funny thing is, we didn't even have to request it! With the tailgate coming over my head I couldn't see how Woody dropped the rear end, I only assume he stood on the bumper giving us just enough weight in the rear to unbind the steering and allowing Marius to drive out of that crappy-ass spot. Once back on 4 tires Marius promptly spun around and asked if I wanted to drive, Not on your life! :grinpimp:

Continuing down 93B the trail remained very steep and technical. With only Connor and Woody spotting they managed to get us down to the bottom in one piece and relatively unscathed, on the outside of the truck anyway. Good job TTT.

Now with the Taco down, Josh and John now at the bottom the FJ-Cruiser behind us. Somewhere in this novel of a write-up I mentioned how tight these trail were, well let's prove it again. Steve was doing okay until the tail of the Cruiser fell off a small 3 ft boulder which threw the left side softly into the rocky wall. The result was to knock off the "heavy duty plastic" corner of the rear bumper. STOP yells Woody and out comes John's winch and snatch block from below, now with the right rear hooked up John & Woody pulled the truck away from the wall clearing him rock in the the walls. Steve was cleared to drive down the hill, now attempting to get by John the Cruiser walks up a small tree on the right and promptly falls off where causing the tree to snap back and put a nice little dent on the passenger front door. :whoops:

Are we done yet, almost I promise.

By now Mr. Mom has been patiently sitting on this hill of about 30 degrees nose down for awhile. So we clear the way for Mr. Mom to make his way down the hill and clear the final obstacle so we can all go home. Mr Mom then announces "I'm out of gas" :censor: :censor: Josh quickly ran back to camp and grabbed a 5 Gal gas can, we lug the thing up to Mr. Mom's FJ-80 dump the entire contents into the tank and the engine fires up. Woody spots him down and we're finally cleared to get the hell out of Beasley. I'm exhausted!

My drive home was interesting on front wheel drive only but I was fortunate enough to have Side Swipe and Josh playing wing man most of the way home. It took 2 hours with a top speed of about 50 but I finally made it. Thanks for hanging with me!

Thanks again to everyone that came out to support the Ga Cruisers, look forward to seeing you next year.

DONE!

OK, I remember this hill and last year I took the same line. (Rick Stay OFF THE BRAKES, I remember Dan saying). I did it both days and the second day we watched Woody & Gustav just go straight over the boulder (pictured on the right). Next time, I'd just go straight, maybe ride the bank with the passenger front wheels a bit before dropping in.

Looks like a fair amount of erosion since I was there last year. The ruts on either side of the boulder weren't as prominent then.

Great write up Ted, sorry I couldn't join you guys.

These are from the TTT. Pretty good pics.

In the last one, both Woody and my son, Brooks, are telling me that I should have used my left foot on the brake and I would not have broken my tail light.
Lesson learned.

I want it to be perfectly clear that I had nothing to do with that FJ 40 rolling DOWNHILL backwards. I wasn't even on that trail at the time, I was on a different trail. All of the trees that I encountered at Beasley moved out of my way before I got to them. Trees tremble at the mere mention of my name........ I love the fact that more of our members are getting new names (like Twisted Ted & Side Swipe)

I beg to differ, Beasley saw you coming and just your mere presence is enough to make you responsible for the FJ 40 going backwards and leading credence to your name. :flipoff2:

Here's my carnage report: Bent Idler Arm, twisted & broken rear drive shaft, left rear body mods, and lastly right side body mod under the gas cap. :whoops:

Had fun doing it though!!! :steer:

Okay, the other video I took made it to YouTube:
