Events/Trails Beach N Toys 3rd Annual Camp and Shoot, 1/23-25

Hello friends, based on the positive feedback last meeting I'd like to plan our annual Camp and Shoot the weekend of January 24th. We'd set up Friday, wheel and shoot Saturday, and then depart Sunday. I am thinking we might explore Superstition Mnt? I am up for ideas but will throw that one out there. We'd do that then end up back at camp to sling some lead.

I don't know what I am going to make Saturday night yet but if anyone has some potluck ideas, I am all for it!

As for location I think going farther east like we did that last couple of years worked well so will target that again.

Just to put some color in here about the Poker Run. North Coast Church does an annual Desert Rat event that is pretty huge out of Ocotillo wells on this same weekend. Saturday there is usually a poker run (although nothing has been officially announced) that hits all the major locations around OW. (Pumpkin Patch, Devils Slide, Blow Sand, Truck Haven, Gas Domes, etc.....) Although you cannot compete in the poker run unless you are signed up for the event, we could still hit the locations as a group and pose for some "unique" pictures are Truck Haven. There will likely be lots of vehicles on those trails, specifically razors and dirt bikes, so something to consider. Regardless, I would most likely camp at the Desert Rat Event, and then come over for shooting, cigars, and fire pit action on Saturday night.

I'll be there with Tommy and a few of his friends. They are going to camp a little ways down from us this time so they can be obnoxious all night on their own.

Cool, I will have Daniel and Brennan (7). I was going to bring Brennan's razor so he can put, or whirr as it may be, around camp.

We have a lot of moving parts going over here but our goal is get to 76/15 gas station around 8, hit La Jolla gas stop and then off to the spot. We will have our radios on club frequency for when we get close. We ended up with 1 adult, 6 17 year olds, and 1 dog.

Friends, the weekend after MLK might just be the best weekend to be in the desert. It was desert-ed. I took Brennan and Daniel on this one. Garrett Falcone had some things to do and his arm is still healing. We left the bikes at home and since I got the 80 back from Valley Hybrids, took it for some much needed dirt time. It is so nice to have the truck back. No offense to the Trail Whale but the 80 is the beezneez.
