I dont want a yellow or red top, i mean if it was new, defect free, and free, sure, but alas i have to buy one.

so this is a bit of a tech question regarding reserve power. the deeper the battery is reserve minutes, will that cause an alternator to have to work beyond what it was designed to? 90 to 100 minute is what comes up for my 97 LC 1fzfe with A/C. if i install a 165 reserve minute will that burn up the alt?

thanks in advance

How are you installing? Is this the primary battery or secondary? If secondary is it parallel or isolated?

If you're talking about the main starting battery, you're only limited by the physical size of the battery. As long as it will fit and you can tie it down you can go as large as you want. The alternator can handle it. Keep in mind that the battery doesn't power anything while the motor is running. The alternator supplies all power. The battery only supplies starting power, and power to accessories while the vehicle is turned off.

No. The 165 reserve minutes will not burn up your alternator.

Of course, you could always wrap a bit more copper into your alternator, and maybe change the pulley to a 3:1. If you're concerned about electrical power, that is.
