The joys of having kids work on yer rig.

I spent all morning on the 21st chasing FI problems and finally gave up.

The kids like working on the war pig, but damn it takes some time to un-do some of their "work"

The ECM was pulling the timing into full retard because the knock sensor was reading a knock. Turned out the distributor wasn't seated fully causing a loss of oil pressure on acceleration. The distributer would walk up the gear under load, then drop back down at idle. The knock sensor heard the valve rattle as spark knock and pulled timing out.

The ECM voltage would go from 11.5V-12.0V at idle to 7V on acceleration causing a misfire. A loose crimp connector to the ign feed was that one. They used a yellow crimp instead of a blue one then covered it with electrical tape.

The injectors were 5.0L injectors. Thanks to GM for clearly marking them with paint codes in a location that wears off. Fortunately I had some 5.7L injectors on the shelf.

The O2 bung had giant booger welds that leaked so bad the O2 read constantly lean.

and it still has something causing it to lean backfire badly above 2000 under load.

after getting off of work at 6am my cousin and i headed down to Badlands with sleepy eye's.
once we arrived we hit quarry to test my lockers but couldnt engage them.
then we headed to diffrent green trail that used to be blue and pink, that's where we had alot of winching, spotting and trans carnage on the rover.
with no lockers, i had to tow the rover back to main enterance where we decided to call AAA.
$140 bucks later, i just got home.
gonna wrench on the rover and my lockers this weekend, we can probably do following weekend.
we missed you Rob, hope you make next trip.
Cheers

The carnage... well that sucks pretty bad, especially the tow bill $$. But, it sounds like you guys still had a good time.

Alen, I'm not too bad with electrical wiring if you want to get together one day or night next week and go through your lockers and get them working right before we go next.

As we speak I am painting the York bracket and assembling some more of the components. I still have to mount the tank, but it's about a good afternoon's worth of work until done. I think a few of you locals might be interested in my style bracket. I am utilizing the the stock tensioner relocated onto the York bracket. It is similar to lumpdog's setup in that is does not use an additional pulley or belt, but it is spaced a little father away from the block. It is a tighter fit if you want to run dual batteries, but I think the second tray will still fit. The nice thing about my setup is that I just have to carry the original belt in the back somewhere and I can revert back to the stock setup in a matter of minutes should something happen to the compressor or other system component. I'll post up some pics when I get a chance.

Anyway, next week might be doable for an orange trail run.
