Just saw an advertisement for the winch at Harbor Freight thst it's on sale for $289. Seems to be a good bit cheaper than what it usually goes for. Has anyone seen it that low before? Just curious if I should pick one up now even tgough I won't be ready for it for a few more months....

That seems to be the cheapest the 12k lb winch goes. If they're on discount, they're either at the $289 or $300 price point. This happens frequently so, unless you have a trip coming up in the next couple months, you should be able to find it at that price point again (or close) fairly soon.

If you do wire one up, keep the power cables protected from sunlight. They will split and you will have to source new ones.
