back seat of 4runner

I am wondering if someone could tell me how much room is in the back seat of 3rd generation 4 runner?

I tried a search and came up emtpy. I need to know if I can fit three child seats in the back seat.

48 inches seating surface

I own a '99 4Runner SR5 with leather seating surfaces. I measure the back seat at exactly 48" wide.

Yes- 3 car seats will fit but you will likely risk hitting/denting up the arm rests.

Cosco car seats at Wal-Mart

I thought of you this weekend when the Sunday paper arrived. I notice COSCO brand car seats are quite narrow when that silly accessory cup holder is removed. I saw it in the Wal-mart ad.If you had 3 kids in that type of seat you likely would not have to remove the rear arm rests.

I have seen 4Runners with both of the rear seat arm rests removed in order to fit 3 baby seats across that back seat. Booster seats for slightly older children tend to be flatter-thus wider.

I think those might be the ticket. They make car seats these days that are gigantic like little lazy boy chairs!
