Well I am back from my 10 day vacation to Virginia Beach/Outer Banks (Avon NC)

I had just got done a full tuneup, front brake pads, crank and dizzy oil seal, new belts, etc.

First off some quick background about me.. I have 3 kids, a 7yr old, a 4yr old autistic daughter, and 2 yr old Down Syndrome son who is on a GJ feeding tube (one that feeds into the stomach and small intestine) so what one could normally do on a vacation like going to the beach is very unique for us.

We stayed 7 out of the 10 days in Avon NC at a average oceanfront house with some family visiting the first few days. Everything was great until Wednesday afternoon when all of a sudden our sons GJ tube came all the way out because the balloon inside thats filled with fluid to keep the tube in burst. My wife had a G tube spare just to put in to keep the hole open and we took him to Outer Banks hospital in Nags Head but then they told us to go to CHKD (Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters) in Norfolk Virginia.

We went straight from Nags Head to my brothers in VB and then left at 6:45AM the next morning to make sure we were the first in the ER because the Outer Banks hospital called ahead and said to make sure we get there for 8am. About 3.5 hours later Robert had a new GJ tube in and was ready to go. We then drove straight back to Avon NC and continued the last 2 days of our vacation fun right? haha

Before going back to my brothers in VB for the last day before home I wanted to hit up the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge and we did the Wildlife trail there and I wanted to do others but the 2 younger kids don't have a lot of patience depending on various factors and the fact it was 90 out thank god for a/c was another reason to not get too crazy.

So all in all I drove about somewhere between 21-23 hours the whole week til we got home and went about from 109,986 to 111,345.

The LC never skipped a beat and did well through the craziness of Route 95 in Wilmington and the whole Philly area coming back home.

Here are some pictures to sum up the experience

I think you may fall into my "hero" category. Life sometimes deals interesting cards, and it seems as though you got more than your share. Good for you and your wife for persevering. I'm sure the kids had an enjoyable and memorable time. Nice pics, and it's lucky the old LC has so much room! And that the a/c works.

thanks, its been challenging especially for my wife whos parents died a year apart from cancer only a few years ago and shes a only child. My parents are the only real support base left.

In the end though I almost couldn't imagine a happily life with the distinct personalities of our kids. one is super smart another lives in her own happy world and another is still a trooper after multiple surgeries and over close to 100 ER visits in almost 3 years.

Glad to hear everything worked out. Great pictures. I my self have a two boys one is 4 and the other just turned 1 and he has down syndrome. Have not been able to go exploring with them yet, but can't wait too. My hats off to You and your Wife :clap:Keep up the good work.
