WOW nice 40

Here are some Mazda seats in the back of mine:

Wow that is an awsome 40. What Mazda did the seats come from? What a super clean LC:bounce: I'm not worthy

I was just looking at the rear seats from Dodge Raiders for this use, they will fit with about 2 inches to spare, and fold down and forward to stow. Picking 1 up this week at the yard .

We have been very satisfied with putting Toyota mini-truck buckets in the back of '40s. The whole mount will bolt to the floor with very little modification. It lets you keep the slider function. I prefer putting a single seat back there, on the drivers side. This lets the passenger in the front seat turn around to interact with a child while the rig is moving if need be. It also allows access in and out of the rear ambulance door. There is a lot of room left beside the seat and even behind if for storage still.

Enough leg room for an adult and it sits low enough that an adult can look out the windows still as well.

Use a family cage and secure a standard three point shoulder belt to the cage.

We put a center console box on the fenderwell beside the seat in one installation and it worked great. The rear seat passenger had a place to stow stuff and no loss of usable room.

You *could* fit two side by side, but a single works a lot better.

Mark...

Thank you. It is pretty clean, the guy who did the restore had a couple of years off work, as a result of an accident, and took his time, because he had plenty of it! I wish I could tell you the specifics of the seats, but all I know is what I was told by the guy I bought the 40 from, who purchased it from the original restorer. I have been trying to locate the original guy, by posting a pic in a couple of the Oregon group sites, but haven't had any luck. If there are any Oregon LEOs that would be willing to do a title search on the VIN, I would much appreciate it. I'm not stalking the restorer, it's just that the guy who sold it to me said there were tears in the restorer's eyes when he drove it away, and I wanted to let him know it's safe and sound and getting improved further here in Texas.

Here's a closer pic of those seats:

Just an observation...are there seat belts in there somewhere?

Doc

Yep. If you look real close, in between the two back seats, you can see the red button on the receiver for the bucket on the left. The front seats came with two point belts, which have since been replaced, (after this picture was taken), by three point belts from Cool Cruisers.

Just curious, how do people actually get into the seats you have now? The rollbar looks like it is in the way.

Well, I don't have folks back there, (no kids), and if I'm out in it, it's either just me, or me and the wife. The PO said his kids use to ride back there, and if you're a kid, wiggling into the back of a 40 is great fun, right? The seat backs also tilt forward, so it's pretty easy to tip one forward, and come in through the back door. That is how I always do it, when I need to get my fat old geriatric azzz back there. I want the floor space back, which is one of the reasons I'm putting the jump seats back in. I have three Dalmatians, and they aren't real big on sitting on seats...

Makes sense. Looks like a nice rig.

I got the best top seat without the CCOT brackets and it took about an hour to modify the brackets to
fit in the back of my 40 cold over an anvil and a in a Vise. All the flare on the side is there so they should have the same strength or more, it's mild steel after all... Most of that hour was going back and forth, actual hammer time was maybe 5-10 min each. Didn't even have to repaint them cause I did it cold. Even so they are definitely WAY stronger than the CCOT bracket. I Took a CCOT seat out, cause I wanted a different color.Eazy Peezie.

For my boy I'm probably going to weld some latch hooks in the back too, to connect to.
Thanks,

Cal-
