'94 pickup 2WD, standard cab, originally 22RE 5 speed manual. now has a 1UZFE and lexus auto transmission, but looks like the original axle with 5 lugs. i want to replace the open diff with an lsd or detroit truetrac, or similar but i don't want to order the wrong unit. i have the axle code off the vin plate, but i can't find a reliable source to decode this, i seem to get a couple of different answers. not looking to change gear ratios or anything, i just want a limited slip. spinning out on wet pavement is getting old.
here's the drivetrain code:

C/TR 8H8/F J83 A/TM A01A/W55

it seems "A01A" is the pertinent number, but i'm not sure if it means i have a 7" or 8" unit. any help is appreciated.

just change it out to a 6 lug axle. i'm sure there is waaaay more options w/ the 8".

it would be nice to switch to an 8" 6 lug rear, but then i have to do something about the front end, and i'm not too keen on having two different sets of wheels on the same unit. life might suck badly if i had to change a flat.
yes, the ifs 4wd front diff is a 7.5", as is the '80-'95 2wd rear, i'm not sure what the difference might be. but it looks like i got something sorted out. eaton/detroit make a truetrac gear driven lsd specifically for the 7.5" 2WD rear. #911A565. the front ifs has a different part #, 911A342.

but only after getting dicked around by bumpersuperstore.com. they were happy to take my money for something they had listed "in stock, ships in 1-2 business days", and then cancelling my order 4 days later due to a "cost/retail internal pricing error" and are nice enough to hold up $600 of my money for an additional 3 to 5 days. not impressed, i would not recommend doing business with them. i hope that "pricing error" doesn't mean they listed a price on line that was lower than they intended, and now are backing out on their list price. because that would be uber-sleazy.
