Auxbeam 8-gang Woes

Hey all, having a problem with my Auxbeam 8-gang switch panel that I'm hoping someone can help me figure out before trekking to COTRockies end of July. Electricity has never been my forte, 12V systems are usually easy enough, but this one has me stumped.

I installed one of these switch panels in my truck close to 2.5 years ago to run my Spot/Flood lights, ditch lights, GMRS radio, and to supply power to outlets in the rear hatch used primarily to power my fridge. It worked beautifully for most of that time, no issues whatsoever, until recently. Now, when the vehicle is off, pushing any switch that has an accessory connected it appears to short and "resets" itself. All fuses are fine, grounds are solid, battery was replaced in the last 3 months and the isolator does it's job of keeping it topped off when the truck is running. When the truck is running and alternator charging, no problems, accessories work fine, but the second I turn it off...

I ordered an entirely new setup from Auxbeam to try swapping out parts, but no dice. The new fuse block, switch panel, wire harnesses, etc all showed the same symptoms. I tried removing one accessory at a time, and even multiple accessories as the same time, but symptoms persist. Even with only a single low load accessory connected it cuts out as soon as I try to turn it on. I opened a support case with Auxbeam, they shipped me a new fuse block at no cost, but still the same problems.

Just closing this loop... of all the things it could have been, it was the easiest most obvious thing and the absolute last place I checked (because obviously, why would I keep looking? lol).

I had reached out to Auxbeam support to see if they could offer any insights and they immediately responded willing to help. They gave me some guidance from their engineering team but promptly sent out another fuse panel to rule out any potential of a malfunction in the most likely place as far as their kit goes. The fuse panel shipped from their Chinese warehouse and arrived in just under a week.

After trying the new panel and some further troubleshooting, I hadn't resolved my issue and had to step away from the truck for a bit as life got busy. May at Auxbeam support preemptively followed up to see how it was going. I told her what I was still dealing with and she said an entire new kit was on it's way. She requested that I install the complete new kit to rule out any further problems. It arrived in 2 days via Amazon.

Today, just back from a short weekend trip to the Smoky Mountains (sans Cruiser) I decided to give the new kit a shot. I hooked up the new panel using the new cables and connected it to the new switches. I removed the feed positive from the isolator, removed the body ground for the house battery, verified battery health with my multimeter, and hooked up the leads for my rear hatch outlets. Switch panel lights up, press an unloaded button and the light stays on, press the hatch outlet button and same problem as before. Power cuts out immediately.

All that was left were the terminal clamps on the battery itself, but I had protected those pretty well and didn't feel they need to be checked when I was going through everything before. But ,I decided to pull them off and, while the negative didn't seem too bad, I decided to hit it with a round file and wire brush. Hooked everything back up, and they work flawlessly!!! All just in time for COTR3 next week.

I wanted to share the end result of this to commend Auxbeam and their support team for standing behind their product. May was super helpful and ultimately stuck with me until my issue was resolved, doing everything she could from the other side of the globe to help out. Paired with the overhead mount from Ben and it's still one of my favorite mods, even moreso when everything works.
