Autometer mech water temp guage

Just picked up a new Autometer water temp guage and the none of the fitings worked on my Prado, any suggestions on a different guage or the possibility of another fitting and where I would go for this fitting.

Will the temperature probe on the a/m gauge fit where the original one fits? My replacement probe was too long to fit where the factory one was so I put it in the radiator hose.Its hard to help when you do not give any information what the problem is. If its a simple fitting to change the size check the local hydraulic hose shops. cheers

the wrench sizes that were used on the fitings of my prado were 17mm and 19mm, The existing water temp sensor for the guage cluster was 17mm.
