That is a rather vague question. What are you trying to accomplish?

Yes it is, quite the long time A.

Mr. Mayor , I think you need to start collecting cardboard boxes to raise the tranny just the right height for your installation. Don't forget fresh sawzall blades in case anything gets in your way. Saftey first !!!! wear a lighted TEQ hat to protect your head and see what your doing. Then wait a few days after installation to relize what a big mistake you had made and how much your fj45 depreciated when you go to sell it (you know your gonna sell)!!!

Always good to here from my enlightened friends, yes I think I might want a automatic in my troopie instead of the 5speed. All I need is the automatic out of a fj62 and they say it will bolt right in,I just have to modify the shafts, which I might have to do anyway with the 5speed..

NeverNever gonna sell....................maybe?

Ok I replied in your 40 series forum thread.

Don't do it! It is not a simple bolt in.

Call Texican, Mudrak, Whatley, and OrangeFJ45 and ask their opinions before proceeding.

If you want an auto with some semblance of performance, do an HZJ80 half-cut setup, or some early 2000 vortec with your choice of a (valve-body) 700r4 or electronic-controlled 4L60E or larger 4L80E. You can setup the autos to cool sufficiently.

(or just run the 5spd and be done)

I thought of more fun issues-

tcase- if you use the auto's case, it is setup for vacuum shift. You would need to either convert to manual shift (not quite trivial) or install all the vacuum bits for shifting it. I don't think you can use a manual shift tcase with the autos, but I'm not sure.

flywheel, bellhousing, torque converter- I can't verify, but don't believe those bits are going to bolt on. It is likely you will need to figure out the right combo of each to work properly. My guess is an H-series bellhousing could work, but it will all be about the TC mating up properly.

There is no way I will be doing any of that,I am gonna stick with the 5speed, thanks tho. I thought It might be a lot simpler, but I really did'nt think it out,as per usual.

Hey James,

Go for the H55, I say.:) Will you be in Patchogue in July? I'll be in East Hampton for about a week and the City for about a week (and Boston for a week, and Chicago for a week) in June and July. I'd love to get together again while I am there. I can't wait to see your latest Cruiser collectoin. Any Cruiser get-togethers around then?

Cheers,

Josh

A 91-92 A440F will bolt onto a 2 F with the stuff from the 3 FE and it has linkage controlled t case, however it is a full time 4x4 you would have to run the front hubs locked in. It could be done, but I fear you would be sad when done, the effort and money spent to do this would far outweigh any comfort achieved by it......
