Can anyone tell me what the normal operating temps. (range) would be on the automatic gearbox in my BJ74? Can you also tell me the temp. in which you would start to be concerned?
Thanks

Exactly what I was looking for.Hi
I have a A340F in my KZJ78 Prado.
I have installed a Auto Temp guage from Wholesale Automatics in Australia. The Temp I run are from 50 c at crusing speed 100kph. To 130 c towing the caravan up a pass. If it hits 150 Wholesale auto's say to stop put it in Park and idle it until it comes down....
Off road is never a issue.

No issues at all ..... Simply a precautionary move.Do you have an issue with your BJ74 tranny?
I should have some photos tomorrow.I'm also curious as to where you installed the temp probe, as well as any fittings required. Pics please.....
My Sender unit is installed in the same place as the Factory Temp sender. It is in line with the pipe to the cooler. I am told that is where the highest and most accurate temperature reading is.Transmission temp. sending unit.....View attachment 1119178
Geez, maybe you need to go tow something around to verify that it works. Maybe a heep needs a tow to to the shop![]()
