auto to 5 speed drive shafts same or difrent?

Im doing my 5 speed swap sunday on my 86 4runner 22re auto. this sunday. the only thing i wasnt able to get from the donor truck was the rear driveshaft. Anyone no if they use the same shafts? are they difrent lenths? am i gonna be driveing home from my buddys in front wheel drive sunday night?

I know the 4 speed and 5 speed manuals are about 6 inches off. I measured when I got my W56 thinking I could just swap it out. Not gonna happen. The donor I got my 22RE out of was an auto and the trans sure seemed like it was waaayyy longer.

well the auto is 39 and a half inchs long from front of bellhousing to the flanges on transfercase., and the w series 5 speed i have is 38 and a half inchs long. good news i discoverd i did get the rear driveshaft . so im good

Better check and make sure the bolt pattern is the same.

had a friend helping me to pull the 5 speedwhen i got it.never realised he put it in my suburban when i was under it.

Driveshafts in 5 speed swap

You are probably already done with the swap, but I will reply anyway. I did an auto to 5 speed swap in my 85 4Runner. I put in a W56 and the driveshafts from the auto worked just fine.

5 speed is in. the auto driveshafts did seem to be about half inch difrent in size . I got the used shafts when i grabsed my 5 speed. i had a friend helping me . i didnt no where they were when i made the thread. Its installed and had it running driving. Took it wheeling and thought i knocked somthing lose. Now i think its my tank is rusted and i no the screen on fuel pump has holes i just pulled it out other day. pluss fuel pump has rust on it. So thats where im at with this pain in the ass right now. I got a cracked fuel line. and rusted tank. Need replace the tank pump screen. and fuel lines all the way up to the factory filter
